Verse: Ephesians 5:15-16
15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Devotion
Today is an opportunity for you and I. And tomorrow will be too. And the next day…and the next day….

I’m talking about a mindset change. We can choose to live our lives day in, and day out, just doing what we do: going go work, going to class, taking care of the kids, or whatever your “everyday” looks like. We can get caught up in just “going through the motions” and forget that God invites us to live like our lives matter—because they do.

Think about “making the most of every opportunity.” What do we count as opportunities through the day? Does talking to a friend count? Does texting with someone who has been having a hard time count?. Does interacting with someone who works behind the counter at a store count? Does volunteering to serve at church, or at an outreach, count?

The thing is, there are opportunities to join Jesus in loving and serving others every day. Sometimes they will feel super small (like being extra nice to the checkout person), but you never know what impact that could have.

The thing is, you are an amazing person. You have special gifts from God, and a unique personality, that he wants to use every day to love and serve others. The question is, are we willing to adopt a new mindset and start looking for those opportunities,  and then learn to make the most of them, rather than letting them pass us by? Let this be an encouragement today—you matter and what you do makes a difference! Let’s ask the Lord to help us see the opportunities to love and serve others that happen around us every day!

Prayer
Help me to see the opportunities that you give me every day to love and serve others, and give me the courage to step into those moments.
