1 Corinthians 13:13
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Devotion
Think of our three attributes. Faith. Hope. Love. These are the anchors of everything we believe. On first glance, I have a hard time understanding how love can be more important than faith or hope. Before this verse, we read that when all else is gone, these three will remain. These three are eternal. We live by faith. We are grounded in the hope of our Savior. Faith and hope are both manifestations of God’s perfect love. God’s love is called agape love. Agape love is the highest form of love. It is unconditional and unceasing. Through our faith and hope, we have access to this perfect love. Agape love is both God’s love for us, and our love for Him. In our love for Him, we are just in the first steps.

It is the greatest of these because not only is it the beginning of faith and hope, but love is also the thing that will continue to grow and develop throughout eternity. As we continue to grow in our understanding of God’s love, our love for Him continues to grow and grow. Can you imagine what that will feel like as we step into eternity with our Savior? Can you imagine the love we will feel as we look into the face of Jesus? When we reach eternity with the Lord, our faith and hope will come to completion. Our love will continue to grow and expand in a way we can’t even imagine.  For this reason, faith, hope, and love will always remain, but the greatest of these is love.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for this reflection today. Thank you for bringing me to faith in you. Thank you for the hope that anchors my soul. Lord, help me to reflect on Your love today. Help me to reflect on the perfect agape love that You, and only You, can show me. Your unconditional, unceasing love is unfathomable in human terms. Help me to feel surrounded by this love day. Please use this to guide my steps to cross paths with people who need this love. Speak through me boldly today to proclaim your love so that the lost may experience this perfect love. Thank you Lord, we love you.
