Verse: 2 Timothy 2:8-10
Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel, for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained. Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

Devotion:
This is my gospel.
Jesus Christ
Raised from the dead
Descended from David

I am just meditating on this. I get very caught up in the complications of life . But this is simple. And it is good. It puts things in their proper perspective. This is my gospel. This was comfort and purpose for Paul, and it is for me as well.

What does all the peripheral stuff matter? We were promised a savior to make all the wrongs right. To give purpose to our work. It’s not always easy to understand, but I’m trying to sit with it today. To accept it, embrace it, and be thankful for it.

Of course, I’m not saying that nothing in our daily lives matter. But the things that cause me anxiety – they don’t need to, and I feel that meditating on this simple but powerful verse is bringing my heart back into alignment somewhat. I’m not saying it’s a magic pill. But it’s helping me. The stressors of life aren’t going away, BUT the stress that they cause? Maybe it can lessen if I focus my mind on the right thing for a little while, and ask God to make it more real to my heart, to bring the truth deeper into my soul and mind.

I’m going to sit with it, and repeat it for a while today. Would you join me?

Prayer:
Jesus, you are my gospel. You were raised from the dead. Descended from a David, as promised. You are our gospel. Please be close to me today. Amen.
