Verse: Matthew 28:5-7
5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

Devotion
I was reading this passage yesterday and something stuck out to me that I’ve never seen before. Read this one part again, the angel says, “Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples.” This is it!! This is the basic way for all of us. Here’s what I mean:

Step 1: Come and See
The first thing, for all of us, is to personally experience the risen Lord Jesus. We all need a personal revelation, a personal relationship with Jesus. The first part is to come and see. Come and see who He is in your life. Come and see how loving He is. Come and see His forgiveness and freedom in your life. Come and see the power of His Holy Spirit. Come and see His presence in worship. Come and see the Truth of His Word spoken over your life. Because once you personally experience all that Jesus is in your life, you will have no choice but to…

Step 2: Go and Tell
Once we know Jesus, the natural order of things is that we want to tell others. Once we’ve personally received His love and forgiveness, the power of His resurrection, we will overflow about Him to others! It’s not so much a command (I mean it is a command, but follow me here) as it is a description of what happens! When you fill a cup with too much water what does it do? It overflows! When you meet Jesus personally and He changes your life, what do you do? You go and tell!!!

Side Note: Quickly
One quick side note: He says to go quickly and tell. There is an urgency to the message of the Gospel. There always has been. This is life changing news, the Good News, and there is something time sensitive about it. In our hearts we carry in us the urgency of the Heavenly Father wanting to reconnect with his Prodigal Children.

As we experience Good Friday today, let us look forward to Resurrection Sunday and let us meditate on this passage that as we each Come and See that God is good, we will then overflow and Go and Tell!! In FACT…..who are you going to tell about Easter? Are you inviting anyone to church? Could be a good conversation starter…
