Verse: Matthew 9:20-21
20 Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. 21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
Devotion
I love the faith of this woman. She knows what she needs: Jesus. And she doesn’t need to make a big show and get recognition, she just wants to barely touch the edge of his cloak. And she just knows deep in her heart that will be enough.
I’m challenged this morning as I read this to have this same kind of faith. To know that above all else, what I need is Jesus. Am I pursuing him like this woman? Am I reaching out to him? Am I full of faith that he has everything I need?
This morning take a moment to talk to Jesus about how much you need him in your life. Make some decisions to pursue him, to put him first, to keep him a the forefront – not just today – but all week. And then see how his life and power flows into your life just like it did for that woman. When we decide to pursue Jesus, he pursues us right back (James 4:8). His presence and love surround us and fill us.
He wants to be near to you, to lead you, and to fill you with his Spirit. Reach out today in faith, he is waiting!
