Verse: Matthew 9:27-28
As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied

I’m envious of these blind guys. They literally can’t see Jesus, yet they have a confident faith. And importantly?Their faith is placed not in evidence, or circumstances, or a set of logic. Instead, their faith is placed in the identity of who Jesus is. They believe he comes from the line of David. They believe he is the messiah. They believe he has authority. They believe he has the ability to refresh their sight. They believe that he is who he says he is: God. And therefore, they call him Lord and allow him to be a direct authority in their life.

For me this is a refreshing view, because I tend to think of faith in terms of belief sets or perhaps about Biblical events. But it makes more sense to have faith in God Himself, because all other faiths stem from that; it’s fundamental.

Having fundamental faith in the identity of Jesus should lead us towards relationship and action. In the case of these blind guys, they know who Jesus is and know that it’s totally fine to ask him to showcase his power and authority in their lives. They know they can approach him, and bring their needs to him. It’s clear from their interactions with Jesus that they are inviting him in and embracing his divine authority in their lives, and submitting to his authority.

Very inspiring, for a couple formerly-blind dudes.
