Verse: James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Devotion
As I read this verse I am reminded of the song that goes, “How great is our God! Sing with me – How great is our God!”
Let’s start our day considering how great our God is:
How great are you Lord – you are the author of every good thing in my life.
How great are you Lord – you created the heavens and the earth and called them good, and gave them as a gift to us.
How great are you Lord – I look at the people I love in my life and I am so grateful for the good and perfect gifts they are to me.
How great are you Lord – your good and perfect gift of forgiveness has set me free from shame, and cleansed my heart.
How great are you Lord – you do not change! You are the same yesterday, today, and forever!
How great are you Lord – you are faithful and true. I know that I can rely on you.
How great are you Lord – you give me the good gift of your presence – you will never leave me or forsake me.
How great are you Lord – you gave me the good and perfect gift of your Son! To know him is life!
How great are you Lord – if we do not shout your praise, the rocks will cry out – because even creation knows how great you are!
How great are you Lord!
Prayer
Let my heart sing the song of your greatness today. Thank you for every good and perfect gift you have given me.
