God Wants to Know You

Verse: 1 John 1:2-4
2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. 3 We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ. 4 We write this to make our joy complete.

Devotion
God wants to know you. He is not satisfied with a casual relationship. He is not excited by religious performance. He is not looking for obligatory obedience.

He wants to know you. He wants to know your dreams, your passions, and your fears. But more than that, he wants you to know him.

He wants to show you his love, his truth, his strength, and his glory in your life. He wants to teach you how to love, how to be strong in the face of adversity, how to stand up for what’s right, how to be a light in a dark world. He has so much planned for you.

This is about you, and it’s also not about you. It’s mostly about HIM – but because he is who he is, he makes it about you. Because he loves you.

You are a treasure to him. You are a beautiful child in his eyes, and he just wants to know you more.

That is the invitation this morning. As James said, ” Come near to God and he will come near to you.” (James 4:8) Will you come near to him today?

Prayer
I want to know you more God. I chose to draw near to you and I pray you would come close to me!
