Verse: Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out shoots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Thoughts

If you’re in the midst of processing what is going on in this period of time it may feel to you that the world seems mostly upended right now. Like the roots of a plant just pulled up and they dangle in various directions looking so frail and unprotected. And unpredictability hangs in the air like an irremovable stench.

For some, right now may seem like crunch time… So many details to hammer out to begin to work from home. So many ideas to gather to keep kids busy. For others, you may be struggling through something hard like grief or sadness, and it feels difficult to find inner peace and rest.

Today, I want to encourage you to reset your mind and outlook…

If we take a deep breath and refocus we can become aware of the simple ways God shows up. In the birds that are singing… In the newly forming buds on trees. In the coolness of the green grass sprouting back to life… And In the droplets of rain that must fall to allow all things to grow. These are reminders that life has goodness… And that it is thriving still. That the Creator of life is alive and well… and He stands for us… And with us! We are not alone and this is not an end, but rather a pause in the regular schedule of systems. We can rest and restructure our mindset and view of this, so that we are focused on Jesus and all that He stands for.

But we must each create space that will allow us to refocus on what God STILL has for us. We are STILL covered under His wing (Psalm 91). And He knows the plans for us even in this time of uncertainty(Jeremiah 29:11). So take heart, brothers and sisters in Christ! We stand with the real One in charge of all plans. We stand with truth and hope. And we can represent hope to others who so desperately need it… and to one another as well.

So as you move forward in the days to come, give yourself time and room for rest and refocus. Let the One who knows and understands time hold yours in His hands and renew your spirit. For we were all made to be here for such a time as this because the Lord makes no mistakes. And each of us being here right now are here with purpose. Pray for hope, and then share it.
