Verse

You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. (Psalm 86:5)

Thoughts

After listening to CityLight’s Good Friday livestream service, the worship lyric, “Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me” kept playing in my head. I was familiar with the song, but was led to search it, listen further, and reflect on the meaning expressed by the artist, Jenn Johnson from Bethel Music. I found comfort in this promise; no matter what I’m doing, where I’m going, or the choices of my past, He is still chasing me and my heart. I don’t know if we will ever be able to comprehend a love like the love of Jesus. He knew we needed saving, and He did this by dying on a cross to free us from our sins. Jesus took our burdens from us and washed them away.

Jesus didn’t stop there; He followed through with his promise to rise again, and this is the reason we celebrate Easter Sunday! It is the ultimate gift to us all and direct proof that He is always pursuing us; we just have to let Him in. Jesus’ resurrection allowed for a relationship with Him. As much as Jesus is running after us, we must respond by learning more about Him, studying His word, and building a strong foundation. The foundation is built with prayer, community, and mediation on what He has planned for us.

While it is very easy to be stuck in the struggle and negativity surrounding the pandemic, we must challenge ourselves to trust in Jesus, reflect on his ultimate pursuit of us, His follow through, and turn to Him. When fear is looming, let’s run to Jesus. Let’s picture ourselves right beside Him. Let’s listen to what He has to say for our lives. Rejoice, for He is good!
