Verse: Galatians 3:26-28 (ESV)
26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Devotion:
In his letter to the church in Galatia, Paul is addressing non-Jewish converts to Christianity. Many of them had been taught that they needed to begin keeping traditional Jewish law in order to be worthy of becoming Christians. But in this passage, Paul drives home the point (which would have been exceedingly unpopular among the Jews) that there is no difference between these believers and those who had come out of Judaism. Because we are all equal in the sight of God. Equally valued; equally useful; equally his.
It’s easy for us, as humans, to look at the world around us and decide for ourselves who we think is worthy of God’s love based on what we see them do or hear them say. But not only does God see beyond their words and actions to what’s in their hearts, he also has the power to change those hearts and call them to himself. He has the power to declare them equal to all of his other children. Because God doesn’t judge by the same standard that we do. He judges by the standard of Christ. And anyone who has “put on Christ” is judged holy and blameless. Praise God!
Prayer:
God, thank you that we are not accountable to a law that we could never keep. Thank you for sending Christ to fulfill the law and bring us into your family. Help us to see others through your eyes and not our own. Amen.
