Verse: Hebrews 1:1-4
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
Devotion
“But what about Jesus?”
That’s the question I ask people often when they are doubting God or faith. I’ve been there, trust me. Doubting whether God exists. Doubting whether Christianity is true. Doubting if Christianity is really the “only way.” Wondering how a loving God could allow suffering. Wondering how God can allow people to live eternally without him.
These are all really hard questions. They are all legitimate things we need to think about and ponder. They all matter. But in the end, there is one big problem: Jesus.
What do we do about Jesus? He really lived. He really did miracles. He really claimed to be God. And there is a lot of evidence to point to the fact that he really did rise from the dead. So what do we do about him?
He’s the problem. He’s the linchpin. If someone claims to be God, predicts they will rise from the dead, and then does it—you need to make a decision about him. He also said that all people will have a decision to make: to either follow him or not. And that he is the “only” way to the Father.
So we all have to decide at some point to either ignore Jesus, to disbelieve him (in essense calling him a liar), or to believe him……..and then to follow him accordingly.
What will we do? What will I do? What will you do?
Prayer
God, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for showing me the Truth through him. Thank you that he is the “radiance” of you. Show me more of who you are!
