Verse: Hebrews 10:36-39
For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised. For “Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; but my righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, my soul has no pleasure in him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.

Devotion:
Shall we pause after the first 6 words? Anyone else feel like they’re in a season of life where they need endurance? Life. Is. Hard. Jesus knew this, that’s why we see the word endurance over and over again in the Bible. I happen to feel like I’m in a season of life right now where I’ve needed endurance more than ever before. Catch the second half of the phrase- we need endurance so that we can continue to be used by God and to be reunited with Him at the end of our lives.

Friend, I know life is hard. It feels so long and painful. It feels like the season will never end. Yet, we have a hope to set our eyes on. He reminds us that it is just for a little while, so we have two choices. We can persevere and continue to draw closer to God, or we can shrink back and turn away from Him in the midst of the hardships of life. In the middle of the battle, we have hope to continue keeping our sight on the Lord.

Jesus came to Earth and knows the hardships we face. He knows the endurance and perseverance that is required to keep our eyes on Heaven. That is why we have the Holy Spirit to guide us. That is why Jesus promises to be with us always, even to the ends of the Earth. (Matthew 28:20). Friend, we have the eternal hope and promise of Jesus to draw near to in order to preserve in the face of hardship. You are not alone.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for bringing these verses to some of us today that feel hopeless and close to giving up. Jesus, we know you see us and understand. Thank you for being with us every step of the way. Holy Spirit, guide me to the tribe of people you’ve place around me to help encouraging me towards You when I feel helpless. God, show me how to find time to be still to reconnect to Your hope and peace. Show me how to endure hard seasons so that I may be able to reflect you to the broken world around me. Amen
