Verse: Psalm 16:11
You make known to me the path of life; in Your presence there is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Devotion
David is the author of the Psalms. David experienced trials and hardship. However, he figured out one key, important thing that we can’t miss. He says God makes his path in life known to him. That doesn’t mean God whispered to David what choices to make to be successful and happy. Instead, David figured out that the Lord’s ultimate path for us is to draw near to Him, and to walk with Him so that we might experience the joy and pleasures He has to offer. We may not know whether to go left or right, what specific choices we should make. But, we do know that God will always follow through on His promises. We can trust what He says to us to be true. As we make time to draw near to Him, we will feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit with every step we take. We may not know any certainties in our earthly life. But we do know the most important thing. By drawing nearer to Him and listening to His voice each day, we can experience true and lasting joy despite any circumstance.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to draw nearer to you today. Show me how to be still and feel your guidance. Holy Spirit, lead me in every step. Show me how to be a vessel to reflect Your light to the world. Give me the discernment to see the difference between worldly, fleeting happiness and the lasting, deep joy that can only come from knowing You. Amen
