Verse: Matthew 1:22-25
22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”). 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Devotion
This is kind of a big deal. “God with us.” God took on human flesh and lived with us, loved us, ministered to us, and died for us. John tells us that, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” This is a big deal!

And the amazing thing (that we all know) is that it changed everything. Now, as Jesus has promised, “surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Think about that. He is with you, always.

That’s where I want to just pause and meditate today:

  • Jesus is with you at work.
  • Jesus is with you in class.
  • Jesus is with you while you parent your little ones.
  • Jesus is with you at your kid’s soccer practice.
  • Jesus is with you while you sleep.
  • Jesus is with you in the morning.
  • Jesus is with you while you drive.
  • Jesus is with you when you are anxious.
  • Jesus is with you when you feel weak and overwhelmed.
  • Jesus is with you when you are tired.
  • Jesus is with you when you are strong.
  • Jesus is with you when you have a big decision to make.
  • Jesus is with you when you are having relationship problems.

Should I keep going?

Did you actually read all those or just skim them?

Jesus is with you always. And that changes everything.

Today, let that be the thought that carries you. Connect with that truth, and with his presence. No matter what is before you today, Jesus is with you.
