Verse: Matthew 6:30-31
30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
Devotion
Reading this verse this morning, I am reminded of another verse: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). This current verse seems to be about God’s provision in our lives practically, but it’s also about his care for us. God cares for you, and not just the “big things” of life—he cares about all of it. He cares about your bills. He cares about your worries. He cares about your finances. God is for you which is life changing and hard to imagine!
And what I get out of this is that even as he lovingly clothes the grass and the lilies of the field, he lovingly cares for you. His eye is on you. You have his heart. You have his attention. And he is intimately connected and concerned with everything in your life.
It is easy, at times, to feel overlooked. Or to believe the lie that “God’s got better things to do than care about me.” But that’s simply not true. The vastness of his love extends all the way to you—all the way to even the smallest details of your life. So bring everything to him. He is for you. Even when all of life seems to be against you, he is for you. And let him care for you. Let him pour his love upon you, strengthen you, lead you, and provide for you in every way.
Let this verse encourage you this morning as you lean on a God who knows you and loves you and is caring for you right now.
