Verse: Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Devotion:
This is one of my life verses that I’ve memorized and repeat to myself all the time. For me, it’s one of those verses that keep me anchored in my faith, even during the craziest times.
It’s so easy to get caught up in worrying about the future, because honestly there’s so much unknown to worry about. From finances, to relationships, to health, and so much more. But in this verse Jesus tells us not to be anxious about tomorrow, because God is in control. He knows our needs and He promises to take care of us.
This verse encourages us to focus on today, to stay in the present moment and to trust that God will provide for us each step of the way. Instead of worrying about what might happen tomorrow, His desire for us is to turn our hearts and minds to Him and seek His guidance and peace.
We don’t see the big picture, and that’s ok (even though I know sometimes it doesn’t feel ok). God sees the big kingdom picture for us. He walks beside us, every step, so that we are never alone. He already knows our tomorrow and what we need. At the end of the day, we can give Him our worries and anxieties that burden our souls and know that He is in control.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to trust in You and to live in the present moment. Give us the strength to let go of our worries and to place our trust in You. Help me to find comfort in knowing that You see the big picture, so I don’t have to. Help us to focus on today and to seek Your will in all that we do. Thank you for Your faithfulness and for walking every single step with us. We love you Jesus, Amen.
