Verse: Matthew 7:12-14
12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. 13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Devotion
There’s a lot of ways to think about these verses (and actually I’m teaching on verse 12 this weekend, so I have a LOT of thoughts right now LOL). But one thought that’s hitting me right now is this: in any given situation, I wonder what God’s path is?
I think this is skill that we develop as we follow Jesus over more time. As we begin to understand his Kingdom more, and understand his heart more, and KNOW him more, then in every situation we begin to have more of an idea of what HIS PATH is.
How would Jesus respond here? How would he love this person? How would he treat this person? How would he pray? Who would he move towards?
The wide path is easy. It’s obvious. It’s right in front of you. Path of no resistance. The narrow path of the Kingdom takes more discernment. More intentionality. More “led by the Spirit-ness.” That’s how I want to learn to live my life!
