Verse: Matthew 7:24-25
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

Devotion
I really want this to be true of me. If I’m being honest, when I read this, it is humbling. I pray that I can be more like this. I really do believe that I am living my life built on the rock, but there are times when the rain comes down and the wind blows, and I don’t feel super secure. Is that ever you?

The amazing thing is that along with this reality, is the reality of God’s grace. Jesus is sharing the best way to live life. If we put into practice his teachings, we will live like a house built on a rock. We will be secure and strong and know who we are. We will stand even in the times of trouble.

However, when we fail to live according to his teachings, or maybe we fail to trust the Rock as our foundation, God still has grace for us. We all take matters into our own hands at times. We all try to solve problems without God’s guidance. We all take steps off the narrow path.

The beautiful GOOD NEWS is that Jesus is always there when we turn back to him. He has grace for our mistakes. He has grace and forgiveness for our sin. He has grace for our weakness, our failures, and our stumbles.

He is a loving Father, with a strong guiding hand, whose arms are wide open whenever we turn our hearts to him.

Today, do you need to hear this? Do you need to turn your heart back to him in some area of your life? Do you need to return to trusting him? Do you need to hear that he has grace for you, his arms are open, and his heart is full for you?
